the listnening body: a practice in not knowing
– qi gong & intuitive movement
WITH BENJAMIN LINDH MEDIN
Time: April 25 & 26 – 14-18.00
Location: Stora Studion Danscentrum Syd

This is a somatic approach to dance and performative practices where we explore how expression can emerge from deep listening rather than effort. By using a method called spontaneous movement (Zifa Gong) coming from Qigong, we learn how to be moved by the body and allowing it to guide us.
This method can resemble Authentic Movement, but emphasizes how to connect with “QI” (vital force) to guide us. I am curious about how the body often holds answers we may not always trust. What happens when we take the time to listen, to feel, and to become friends with the signals the body gives us? What is the expression of our body language, if the body leads rather than our mind?
Through this workshop and method I am offering we will also look at how we heal injuries or pain in the body. Through my own experience with injuries, healing began to happen when I stopped attempting t fix the body and learned how to listen and follow its signals.
We use physical and subtle practices such as Qi Gong, spontaneous movement and contact improvisation to bridge this practice both in our own bodies and in connection.
